Abstract

In this article, I argue that, in order to understand the type of governmentality established in the country with the election of Jair Bolsonaro to the presidency, defined as “neoliberal and conservative”, it is necessary to investigate the discourses, values and daily practices that support it. Based on the analysis of white women from the middle and upper middle classes, I seek to demonstrate how these values are produced at the intersection of class, race, gender, and nation, defining the models of femininity inscribed in a neoliberal body. For the field research, I used ethnographic observations and interviews with women aligned with the political right in the country and who live in an upper middle-class neighborhood in Salvador, Bahia.
