Call for Papers: Ibi–Alibi. Intimacy practices and visions from migrants’ descendants in Latin America

The dossier addresses the theme "post-migratory generations" in contemporary Latin America. It focuses on the dynamics of production, incorporation and construction of practices and imaginaries produced by descendants of migrants and connected to the immigrant ancestors and their places of origin. Part of the Latin American population incorporated the migratory experience of their relatives and ancestors. Descendants from the second to the fifth generation practice and construct imaginaries of "intimacy" based on the constant dialectic between “ibi” and “alibi”, here and there. Ibi is the place of close relations and contact with the family and migrant ancestors, while "alibi" is the place from where the migrants arrived and that exerts its force of attraction as that of another world.

Submission deadline: 30th of November 2017.
