The article reflects on the concepts of nation and culture and its impact on history and foreign language teaching. Then we construct a mixed conceptual framework from Content and Language Integrated Approach and Intercultural Communicative Competence. After the theoretical considerations, we present a class unit for Spanish-as-a-Foreign-Language students about the meeting between San Martin and Bolivar. From this unit we wish to "decolonize" decolonization treatment and suggest guidelines for new teaching approaches.
