Preservazione e resistenza. Il contributo di una comunità afrodiscendente del Brasile alle riflessioni collettive sulla sostenibilità

Abstract

The knowledge and territorial practices of quilombola communities and other traditional peoples of Brazil are opposed to the economic logic of globalized capitalism. However, attempts to incorporate these experiences into the neoliberal agenda are increasingly pressing, often carried out in the name of environmental ethic and development. Through the analysis of the quilombola community of Frechal (Maranhão), this contribution highlights the forms of resistance activated by afro-descendants’ groups and their local elaborations of sustainability.
