This article aims to analyze the concept of neo-baroque and its various expressions in the work “Do Amor e Outros Demônios”, written by Colombian Gabriel García Márquez. This analysis follows the theoretical conceptions of Cuban authors, Lezama Lima, Alejo Carpentier and Severo Sarduy, mainly related to what they discuss about American baroque and its expression in the boom literature. In addition, it has the theoretical support of the marvelous real, which means the description of Latin America unusual, a series of ordinary events the calls into question European rationalism.
