Between 1900 and 1930 in Argentine different types of publications promised their readers to take care and improve their health through recipes, scientific information about food and useful cooking tips. This educational vocation of the press coincided with the process of modernization of Argentinian society and the differentiation of its readers. In direct confrontation with the world of healthy food, one can find representations through photographs that give testimony of the daily diet and social meetings having food as a center. In this article we aim to analyse the relationship – both conflicting and complementary – between the ways of representing common food and cooking.Downloads
