La gestación subrogada en los titulares de la prensa española

Abstract

This paper investigates the discursive construction of surrogacy in the Spanish press. The headlines have been selected from the most prominent online newspapers in Spain (El País, El Mundo and ABC) in the period from Jun 1^st  2015 to May 31^st 2016. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on critical discourse analysis and appraisal theory. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of linguistic resources and discursive strategies was brought about to reveal relationships between discursive options and ideological positions. The objective here is to describe and explain their grammatical, discursive and social aspects as an evidence of the power exercised by the media in its discourses.
