Abstract

This article presents and analyzes evidence on the demographic behavior of rural families in Chiapas and its current trends as well as on the environmental conditions in which such behavior has developed in recent years. It also proposes a discussion of both the notion and perspectives of sociodemographic transition, surveys the debates about change and continuity.
