Abstract

In this paper, I would like to analyse El río del tiempo by Fernando Vallejo from the following hypothesis: time in self writing narrative becomes enigmatic until it turns into an edge where souvenirs come and go. Vallejo makes edges that get him out of time, out of any possible representation. These passages provoke the desbarrancadero de los recuerdos, allow the entrance of fiction in a self writing narrative and make the self becomes impersonal. The space, as a place of memory, becomes a temporal edge, and the front door corridor of Santa Anita ́s house controls the writing of memory.
