This paper analyses the ekphrasis – in its double meaning of “vivid description” and “description of a work of art” – in “El despertar de la criada”, a Daniel Briguet's short story (Rosario, Homo Sapiens, 2010). Through close reading of both the story and the painting (Le lever de la bonne, Eduardo Sívori, 1887) we will study the change and the permanence in the representation of domesticity and its protagonists in the XIXth - XXIth centuries.Downloads
