The news about Peru that reached Europe right after the conquest has always been an object of study and reflection. The first documents that describe Peru and its treasures were soon translated into Italian, shortly after their arrival to Spain; some of them were lost in their original form and remain available in Italian only. These documents played a major role in building the image of Peru along the sixteenth century. The paper is about the Cajamarca events described in those documents.Downloads
