This paper develops a reflection on the Military and Civil Regime who held state power in Brazil from 1964 to 1985.'s Life story interviews conducted with former political prisoners, torture target, constituted a fundamental part in the researched documentation . Newspapers and magazines of the period from 1964 to 1985 and official documents of the military government were also extensively researched and contributed to the historical analyzes in this article.
