This work explores the most recent Ecuadorian constitutional process as a participatory political space that incorporates the most important social demands generated in the recent past. In this context this article examines the most significant trends of innovation in the present Ecuadorian constitution of 2008 and its potentials to establish a new form of participatory democracy.
