Abstract

There is some consensus among experts to emphasize the importance of the European models in the configuration of the "Historiographical space of Río de la Plata" in the nineteenth century. However, other contributions have been overlooked, particularly Brazil (“Historical and Geographical Institute of Brazil”). This article aims to clarify the influence of Brazilian authors and institutions, between the 1830s and 1860s, on the lawyers from Río de la Plata who articulated the first stories of nationalist character that have contributed to define the collective identity of Uruguay and Argentina
