This article is part of a wider research project, which is the result of the Scientific Cooperation Agreement between the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Tecnológicas della Repubblica Argentina and the Istituto di Storia dell’Europa Mediterranea, part of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche. The project intends to study Italian presence in Argentina from the 16th century until the present. Among the goals of the project is to study the topic of travelling and travellers. In particular, this article examines some episodes related to the exploration of the Gran Chaco through the analysis of Giovanni Pelleschi and Nicola Descalzi records.
