Based on the theory of aesthetic response/aesthetics of reception (Wolfgang Iser), this article discusses the dialogues between Terra em transe (Glauber Rocha, 1967) and O Rei a Vela (Zé Celso, 1967) and aims at moving beyond discussions about relationship between history and cinema. In conclusion, we demonstrated that the historicity of these works of art gain new meanings, when we use the Wolfgang Iser’s ideas.
