La pérdida de la democracia en discusión: definiciones para un debate

The article discusses aspects of the public debate and the controversy of the political groups identified with different positions concerning loss of democracy during the period 1968-1973 in Uruguay. Through the ideas of polyarchy, closed hegemony, competitive oligarchy, and inclusive hegemony, as well as the prescriptive definitions of democracy, the article proposes to analyze the progress of the dictatorship. Also, to determine the contribution to knowledge the democratic break-up process in the country and to attract attention into the development achieved.
