Abstract

Through a description of the Quechua theory (Bolivian Altiplano) on how the climate works, I propose that the correct ecological balance in the region is built on the basis of smooth relationships. The rain that regulates them is gentle, the llanupara, which allows the landscape to be moistened and water to be always present. Imbalances in this ideal climate system must be alleviated through communication and dialogue with the clouds, rain or hail. However, at present, a general crisis affecting other areas of the runa (person) way of life, and even global climate change, is calling cosmological models into question.
