Abstract

The study deals with the crisis of the African left, with an emphasis on the MPLA (Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola) and FRELIMO (Front for the Liberation of Mozambique). These two parties have never left power since 1975, implementing forms of socialism that appear to be among the most solid on the continent, before the democratic turn in the 1990s. The transition to neoliberalism eliminated any form of social policy, favoring authoritarianism and corruption. The research used a historical perspective, based on the concept of political “transition”.
