This essay examines The Adventures of China Iron (2017) by Gabriela Cabezón Cámara, focusing on the construction of identities at the margins of the clandestine—shaped by affective nomadism and errant trajectories. In the novel, the turn toward rural space, traditionally portrayed in Argentine foundational literature as a site of barbarism, violence, and abandonment, serves instead as a setting for community formation and the emergence of dissident bodies. Both the landscape and its inhabitants are transformed through a nomadism of animal, feminine, and minoritarian becomings, as the rural territory is reimagined as a space of refuge.
