Perito en lunas (1933), Miguel Hernández’s first book, has always surprised the critics because of its difference with the later poetry of the poet. We expect –with our study– to demonstrate that there are two main characteristics which are in the foundation of this distancing: the type of metaphoric construction, heir to baroque conceptism but limited to each stanza and, as a consequence, the lack of lyric introspection: that is reflected in the communicative structure of the poems, and we have called it imaginative modalization. Keywords: neobaroque, conceptism, stanza, lyric modalization. Downloads
