This article analyzes the use and disputes of memory about the Araguaia Guerrilla, based on the tribute paid by former president Jair Bolsonaro to Major Curió, accused of atrocities during that conflict. The methodology consisted of a bibliographical review and consultation of the press and documentary records. It was found that the Guerrilla was a subject of voluntary oblivion during the Civil-Military Dictatorship and that, even today, there is a struggle between the defenders of official memory and the groups seeking to reconstitute the memory of the victims of repression and to make historical reparations
