Abstract

This article studies the history of compensated sex between men in Latin America in the 20^th century. The study has two goals. On one hand, exploring how the changes affecting male compensated sex are inextricably intertwined with the transformation of homosexual identity in the recent Latin American past. On the other hand, analyzing how the study of the same topic offers tools to rethink the political discussions about the status of prostitution, especially vis à vis the abolitionist/regulationist debate.
