Abstract

The reading mother is a typical figure in Western 19th century literature and art. A figure who lives on with her own modulations today. However, there are also women who do not read, do not write or do so in a precarious way. They are assisted in various circumstances by literate "mediators" who intercede for them inside or outside the home. This reality of all times often outlines a subjective, individual, and social drama, related to the experiences of war, uprooting, immigration, and poverty. From these perspectives we will try to explore the links between reading, writing and intimacy in different times and
