Colonial nostalgia is a macroscopic legacy of the Portuguese colonial experience in Africa. Due to its contacts with other feelings of loss such as melancholy, but above all in the case of Portugal, saudade, it provides the contemporary Portuguese imagination with fundamental materials (literature, cinema, visual arts and drama). Portugal feeds and reinforces the phantasmagoria of the return to the African past, which finds, especially in the Internet 2.0, an ample repertoire of places of revision and contemplation: decisively contributing to the formation of contemporary colonial memories and post-memories.
